Aviation - Gin Cocktail Recipe
Plymouth Gin, lemon juice, Maraschino and crème de violette, the violet liqueur gives the cocktail its beautiful rich colour.
The recipe
Ingredients
- 60ml/ 2 parts Plymouth Gin
- 30ml/ 1 part lemon juice (fresh)
- 30ml/ 1 part Maraschino liqueur
- 15ml/ 0.5 parts crème de violette
- Lemon twist to garnish
Method
Glass: Cocktail.
Shake all ingredients with ice, strain into a chilled glass and garnish with a lemon twist.
Notes
Harry Craddock's influential Savoy Cocktail Book (1930) omitted the crème de violette, calling for a mixture of two-thirds dry gin, one-third lemon juice, and one-third maraschino.
